Meet Lejuan

 LeJuan Council understands community from the inside out because she has spent her career building within it. As a mother and small business owner, she has lived the same daily decisions families across the district make about safety, stability, and opportunity. While others debated what neighborhoods needed, she was restoring homes, navigating foreclosures, and helping stabilize blocks that had been written off.

Through years of renovating and managing properties across the east side and working through the Detroit Land Bank process, she saw how policy choices reach into everyday life. A child’s success in school is tied to whether housing is stable. Family health is shaped by environmental conditions. When government systems are confusing or inaccessible, parents carry the burden alone.

Her perspective did not come from political ambition. It came from living, working and raising a family on Detroit's East Side while rebuilding neighborhoods and helping residents stay rooted where they belong. Those experiences shaped her belief that government should function the way strong communities do: responsive, accountable, and consistent.

LeJuan’s campaign centers on safe learning environments, housing stability, environmental protection, and the wellbeing of mothers and children because she has seen firsthand that these issues cannot be separated. She is running to bring practical solutions so public policy can reflect real life.
